Winetta Higgins Obituary (1931

Winetta Arlene ``Winnie'' Higgins went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, January 12, 2010.She was born in New Vineyard on July 15, 1931, the daughter of Ernest and Cora Robbins. She worked at the State hospital, Kirshner, and before retiring she was a med-aid at Gardiner Estates. She was a member of South Gardiner Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, family reunions, and watching the Red Sox with her grandson Josh. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.Winnie was predeceased by her father Ernest Robbins and her mother Cora Robbins, a son-in-law Robert Lewis, a granddaughter Courtney Higgins, a brother, Walter Robbins, and two half-brothers Norman Donelle and Alfred Donelle.She will be sadly missed. She is survived by her four children, Gaye Lewis, Brian Higgins and his wife Sheila, Joannie Page and her husband Jim, Bruce Higgins and his wife Michelle, 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a brother Frank Robbins and his wife Janet, sisters Dot Lee and her husband Ralph, Hilda Gay and her husband Roland, Pat Fogg and her husband Blaine, many nieces and nephews, and great friend of the family Theresa Chase.Visiting hours will be held Friday, Jan., 15th from 4 to 7pm at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave. Gardiner where a funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan., 16th at 11am. Burial will be in the spring in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Civic Center Drive Augusta beside her husband.
