Vernon "Sonny" Pinkham Jr. Obituary (1937

Vernon L. “Sonny” Pinkham Jr, 77, of Gardiner, passed away unexpectedly on September 21st at his home with family by his side. Vern was born in Hallowell, Maine on February 20th, 1937, the son of Vernon and Mabel Pinkham Sr. Vern married Jean Giandrea on June 12, 1993 in their hometown of Gardiner. In his younger years he was employed by Lipman’s, and then went on to work as a truck driver for Merrill Transport and Wadleigh’s for several years before retiring at the age of 65. Vern enjoyed spending time with family, watching his westerns and the Three Stooges and especially loved his 1979 Chevy Pickup, with only 84,000 miles after all these years. He had his own personal nicknames for all his grandchildren, who loved their Papa very much. Vern was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Mabel Pinkham Sr, his sister and brother in law Shirley and Ed McLeod, and his son Vernon L. Pinkham III. Vern is survived by his wife Jean Giandrea Pinkham, son Dexter Pinkham and his significant other Barb, three stepdaughters Maria and Troy Chase, Donna and Terry Armstrong, and Wanda and William Peddie; grandchildren, Vernon Pinkham IV, Lindsey Lovering, Justin Pinkham, Lauren Pinkham, Zachary Pinkham, Casey Harrison, Justin Chadbourne, Brooke Chadbourne, Hannah Chase, Jessica Mihalik, and Kyle Armstrong; great grandchildren Katy Haskell, Samantha Haskell, Lexy Pinkham, and Camryn Lebourdais. Graveside service will be Friday September 26th at 11am at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gardiner, Maine and a celebration of his life will follow the services at Jean’s home.
