Urbane F. Morse'Pittston-- Urbane Fenderson Morse, 89, passed peacefully on March 31, 2011 at Maine General Hospital in Augusta, Maine.He was born May 4, 1921 in Harrington Maine. He was the son of Levi Howard and Lillian (Young) Morse. He grew up in Harrington where he went to school, worked on the family farm, dug clams and went hunting and fishing. He was inducted into the Armed Forces (Battery C 737th Coast Artillery ) in November 1942. He served as a heavy machine gunner and marksman rifleman in World War II and participated in the Bismarck Archipelago campaign. While in the Army he received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Metal, Victory Metal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaing Ribbon. After an honorable discharge from the army in 1946 he was employed at Togus Veterans Administration as a male orderly. June 7, 1951 he married Sylvia Irene Pinkham. In 1976 he retired from V.A. togus. He lived a full life after retirement gardening, digging marine worms, trapping, raking blueberries, fishing and hunting.Urbane loved spending time with his family and friends and was always there to help them when they needed help. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and especially loved hunting and trapping.He is survived by his son Leroy F. and wife Ceceil (Russell) Morse of South Paris; his daughter Rosemarie Morse and partner Randy Kensell of Pittston; grandchildren William Morse of New York; Charlotte Waterman of Arkansas; Eric L. Morse of Mechanic Falls; Charity Williams of farmingdale; Samantha Allyssa Kensell of Pittston; Gerald E, Morse III of North Carolina; April A. Morse of Charlotte; Robert E. Morse of Dennysville; and Tony Morse of Dennysville; Great grandchildren; Shawn Morse; Jarrod Parker; Kelsie Parker; Bradley Urbane Morse; Decoder Morse and Anthony Lindenmann; He is also survived by his sister Loretta and husband Irving Severence of Sullivan; his sister Evelyn Pinkham of Sullivan; Special niece Carolyn Caler Shouse and husband James Shouse of Georgia and several nieces, nephews. cousins and friends.He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Lillian, his wife Sylvia I. Morse; his brother Donald Morse; brother Gerald E. Morse Sr; brother Basil F. Morse; Sister Lucinda (Morse) Sinclair; brother Levi Morse; Stepsons Gerald E. Morse and Robert E. Morse and Granddaughter Angela Morse.There will be a grave side service in Harrington, Maine in July.
