Robert Emery, Sr. Obituary (1933

Robert L. Emery, Sr., 75, passed away in his home in Randolph on August 14th, 2009. He was born in Gardiner, Maine on November 17, 1933 to William Emery and Ethel Ellingwood Emery. He was a hunter, fisherman, woodworker, and mechanic. More importantly he was a wonderful husband, caring father, loving grandfather and great-grandfather, and a generous man who often thought of others before himself. Bob worked as a service manager for 18 years at Sears in Augusta, Maine and later in life had his own small business which he called the 'Sawdust Shop' where he made many products out of wood. He took an early retirement and took care of his granddaughter, who called him 'Pa' which many people came to know him as, and helped his family and friends all he could. He often would mow the lawns of several neighbors and plow their driveways in the winter, gladly accepting a loaf of homemade bread in return. Bob struggled with many illnesses throughout his life but was always a fighter, he died peacefully at home with family members present. Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Farley) Emery of Randolph, his children Jackie Anzuini and her husband Peter of Freeport, Scott Emery and his wife Ellie of Randolph, Kim Emery of Randolph, Bob Emery, Jr. of China, along with his grandchildren Chris, Jenny, Ashleigh, Bryanna, and Vincent, and his great-grandson, Max; along with three sisters, Rita Alley of Augusta, and Reba Hall and her husband Arthur of Augusta, Dot Emery and long time friend Ken Colomy of Manchester, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews, whom all miss 'Uncle Bob' very much. Bob touched many lives in the 75 years he was with us and will be remembered for his great sense of humor, kind, giving, loving ways, great patience, and wonderful smile. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August, 19th at 2:00 pm at the Randolph United Methodist Church on Asbury St. in Randolph. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Special Olympics or Hospice. Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave. Gardiner
