Marjory Colburn Trussell, 87, died Thursday, June 12, 2008 with her family by her side at the Maine General Medical Center at Augusta following a brief illness. She was born in Gardiner, Maine on November 28, 1920, daughter of Frank and Annie Baron Colburn. She married Roland Trussell February 14, 1942. Marjory was the first school lunch program manager at the new Pittston Elementary School. She held this position for 10 years. She then worked for Homemakersin the Augusta and Gardiner area as one of the first case managers of After Care Patients from the Augusta Mental Health Institute, retiring from this job in 1984.Marjory was a member of the First Congregational Church in Pittston and President of the Community Daughters of the First Congregational Church. For the last 10 years, she has been Secretary/Treasurer of Maine Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary and would travel to the Letter Carriers Association's annual conference throughout the United States. She was also a member of the Pittston Historical Society and a past Secretary/Treasurer of the Pittston Fire Department Auxiliary. When her husband was living, they enjoyed boating, camping, and square dancing. They spent many winters in Seminole, Florida. She enjoyed working at the Pittston First Congregational Church suppers and she received the Pittston American Spirit Award in 2005 for her community service. Marjory was well known for the many quilts that she made and donated many to the local nursing homes. Group craft making was held at her home for many years and items were donated to the church craft fairs.Marjory was predeceased by her husband, Roland, in 1990 and son, Bruce, in 2006. She is survived by sons: Gary and wife, Donna of Whitefield, Chester and wife, Bertha of Farmingdale, Harold and wife, Colleen of Pittston and Norman and wife, Denise of Palm Harbor, Florida and daughter-in-law, Sherri Trussell of Texas; 9 grandchildren: Jodi Roy, Todd Trussell, Missy Cohen, John Trussell, Theresa Trussell, Chester Trussell, Scott Trussell, Angela Sutherburg, Nicole Trussell and 4 step grandchildren, Kristy Cote, Luke Cote, Maci Devaney, David Hollingsworth; 15 great-grandchildren and one sister, Eva Twitchell of Bryant Pond and nieces, nephews, sisters-in law, brother-in law, cousins and many dear friends.Visiting hours will be held Monday June 16th from 4-7pm at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave. Gardiner where a funeral service will be held Tuesday June 17th at 1pm. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery Pittston beside her husband.
