West Gardiner-Marie Catherine Kimball, 80 years young, of West Gardiner went to join her beloved husband Jim on January 29th after a prolonged illness. She was surrounded by her family as she went peacefully to the Lord.She was born in Stewiake, Nova Scotia on July 1, 1931 to Mary and Edward Wright. She was the youngest of 11 children. Growing up with eight brothers taught her to do every task on the family dairy farm. She admits to being more comfortable working on a vehicle than baking bread.She married 'Jim' while he was in the U.S, Navy and they lived in several states with their five children and finally retired in Maine. During periods of his extended sea duty, she would pack and drive the children to Nova Scotia to spend time with her parents.She was employed at Fred's Fine Food and Captain Cote's until she and Jim began spending winters in Florida.Every day she was on the road helping others, going to Church or playing Bingo. It was her game! When she did not win she was never going back, until the next time. She loved going to Las Vegas, Foxwoods and Hollywood Slots. Some of her favorite times were when she traveled with her best friend Joan Kirby, whether it was from Maine to California or Europe. She looked forward to having company, offering them a meal and a place to stay.She loved her pets and Baybee will miss that warm spot in her lap.She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, her 10 siblings and a grand daughter Kristina Marie.Her death leaves a hole in the hearts of her daughters, Bonnie Fuller and husband Stephen . JoAnn Peth and her husband Jon; Tammy Waterhouse and husband Randy; Jeannie Palmer and husband Scott and her favorite son Jimmy Kimball and his wife Lisa. She treasured her Grandchildren Joey Thornton and wife Karin; Ashleigh Elizabeth and husband Jim, Nicholas; Steven, James and Marie Jackson; Ashlee Mae; Brittany and husband Cliff, and they had special names for her. She was their Mooma, Gr Gramma and GG. She had 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.She will always be remembered for her passion in serving others, charity, and her love and dedication to her family.A very special thank you to Karen Gallant RN and Lisa Breton CNA from hospice, they treated mom as if she was their own.A celebration of her life will be held at St Matthew Church in Hallowell Maine, Thursday February 2nd at 2 pm.A reception will follow the service.In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to HealthReach Hospice.
