Lorraine Elizabeth RichardsonAUGUSTA -- Lorraine Elizabeth Richardson, 74, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Maine General Medical Center, following a long period of failing health. Her daughters, Sandy and Julie, were by her side.She was born on March 7, 1934, the daughter of Alfred and Violet Firlotte. She grew up in Gardiner and was a1952 graduate of Gardiner High School.She loved entering sweepstakes and, to her surprise, won trips and several big ticket items. Way to go, Mom!! She loved to bake and there was always a fresh cake or a warm batch of cookies awaiting her girls when they came home from school. She will be remembered as a beautiful woman who provided a warm and loving home.A longtime resident of Farmingdale, she moved to Augusta in 1998 and was one of the first residents of the Margaret Chase Smith House. Through the years, she enjoyed her many friends there. Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Sandra Leach and her husband, Roland, of Farmingdale, and Julie Olum and her husband, Jeff, of Augusta; and her grandchildren, Lynne Leach, Jason Leach, Brooke Olum and Nicholas Olum. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Astle, Margaret Pratt and Sheila Lemar; and her brothers, Vincent Firlotte and John Gary Firlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews. At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A private service will be held at Staples Funeral Home on Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place in the summer on the Maine coast, a place that she loved.In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Spectrum Generations, 1 Weston Court, Augusta.
