AUGUSTA – Joseph A. Barrett, 48, passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2025. Joe was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew him with his peaceful and caring nature and a sense of humor that could brighten any room. A true New Englander at heart, Joe was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. He loved the simple joys in life – fishing, family, cookouts, and weekend trips to the coast with his beloved uncles, Scotty and Ricky. He found the greatest happiness in spending time with his family and making lasting memories with those he loved most. Joe is survived by his devoted parents, Deb and Lee Simard of Monmouth; his sister, Kelly Barrett of Manchester; his step-sister, Meagan Albertson of Arizona, along with her husband Jonny and their daughter Blake. He also leaves behind his niece Selina, her fiancé Dylan, their daughters Addy & Ellie and his cherished uncles, Scotty and Ricky. Joe’s presence brought warmth and laughter to every gathering. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his loyalty to those he loved and the peace he brought into the world simply by being himself. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date. Go fly with the angels and have fun – We love you, Joe. We invite you to share your memories and stories of Joseph on his memorial page at www.staplesfuneralhome.com . Please feel free to upload photos that capture the essence of his spirit, his strength, and his unwavering love for those around him. In doing so, we can remember Joseph not just as he was, but as he will always be in our hearts. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.

I always liked Joe. We always referred to each other with last names. I can still hear Tuttle!!!! every time he saw me. We did some fishing, golfing, and played some pick up basketball games. He was a heck of a ball player. Always kind and respectful. God bless you my friend. 🙏❤️🙏
