July 11, 1932 - December 24, 2017\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nGardiner- James Fred Maguire passed away on December 24, 2017 at the Androscoggin and Home Care Hospice in Auburn, Maine. He was born in Waltham, Massachusetts a son of James Frederick Maguire and Hannah Bastable Long. He married Ellen McLeod in August of 1953. He later married Brenda J. Howell on June 24, 1978.\r\n\r\nHis survivors include his son Robert Maguire and wife Carla, their daughter Haley Maguire, son Tanner Maguire and wife Abbi , his wife Brenda and her children Tammy Marie Vainio, Jennifer H. Vainio and her daughter Rebecca Caron, Steven Paul Vainio and wife Shirleen Stone Vainio and their daughters Chastity and Hannah Vainio.\r\n\r\nHe was predeceased by his sister Anne Frances Maguire, son Dennis Maguire and stepdaughter Julie Anne Vainio.\r\n\r\nJim's work and love was building. He was a construction manager for years, working in Florida for the DuPont Family and Estate for 14 years and later relocating to Maine to work with his son, Robert Maguire. His passion was his artwork. He was best known in the art community for his pen and ink drawings, though he also worked with oils and watercolors. He loved spending time with his family and friends and worked tirelessly for his church.\r\n\r\nJim was also proud to be a 3rd and 4th degree knight as a member of the Knights of Columbus in the Gardiner Council\r\n\r\nVisitation will be Wednesday January 3, 2018 from 4 to 7pm at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave Gardiner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday January 4 at 11am at St. Joseph Church in Gardiner\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Gardiner Knights of Columbus Fallen Knights, c/o Jim Hebert, 471 Whitefield Road, Pittston, Maine 04345.
