After graduating the University of Maine in 1960, with a BS degree in Civil Engineering, he began a long career with the Maine Department of Transportation. He resided in Hallowell from 1967 until his last days. Jim is predeceased by his parents, sister and wife of 38 years, Dolores Chandler. How did Lisa know James?

"Uncle Jim took my sister, me, Susie and Peter to Popham Beach. I learned just a few years ago that he took us there during a hurricane. I remember he told us to hold hands really tight when the waves came crashing into us. He said, I don't know what I was thinking... I just remember all of the adventures he took us on were very memorable. Picinics in the snow, swimming in the reservoir, hiking up Chimney Trail. I will never forget him and how kind he was."
