Harland Chesley Obituary (1947 - 2012)

West Gardiner-Harland K. Chesley, 65, of West Gardiner died Thursday December 27th, 2012 at the MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta after a short illness. He was born December 15, 1947 in Augusta to Clyde William and Theo (Varney) Chesley.He was a graduate of Cony High School. He was a member and treasurer for several years of the Gardiner Herman Lodge # 32 and a member of the Kora Shrine. He enjoyed driving the Kora Shrine Karts in parades. He was a member of the Marion Chapter # 63 Order of the Eastern Star of Gardiner and served as Worthy Patron for several years. He retired from the Maine State Highway Department. He was employed for 13 years for the Richmond Police Department as a full and part time officer. Harland also drove a truck and operated equipment for Williams Construction Company.Harland is survived by a brother, Rodney Chesley and wife Mary of Monmouth, a sister, Joyce C. Woodward of Augusta, a daughter, Terry Mounce and husband and their son Nicholas, stepson Henry Lapoint and wife Naressa and their two sons of Hawaii, stepdaughter Torrey Gray and husband and their 2 sons of Gardiner, step sons Mike Pullen of Gardiner and Todd Pullen of Windsor, dear friends Joe and Brenda Gero and their sons Corey and Ryan of West Gardiner, his sister in law and brother in law Debra and Walter Henderson of Litchfield, several nieces and nephews and his loyal companion his dog Bear.Visiting hours will be held Monday December 31st from 4 to 7pm at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave Gardiner, a masonic memorial service will be held at 4pm followed by an Order of Eastern Star service at 5:30pm. A funeral service will be held Tuesday January 1at the funeral home at 2pm. Spring burial will be in the Vienna Village Cemetery.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to your favorite charity.
