Gertie Whitham Obituary (1935

Gertie Mary (Peaslee) Whitham, age 77, went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2012. Mary was a long-time resident of Gardiner, ME. She was born in Pittston, ME to Ruby and Fullum Peaslee, Sr. She had 12 brothers and sisters and graduated from Gardiner HS. Mary wed Richard Lee Whitham on November 23, 1955. Through the years they resided in Gardiner, ME, Waterbury, VT and Tulsa, OK.Mary loved people and held a number of service focused jobs such as waitress and retail sales associate. Her favorite position was as a Prayer Partner at the Oral Roberts University Prayer Tower. She also loved children and ran a home daycare as well as volunteered as a 'Grandma' at the local elementary school. She has been a long-time active member of Calvary Foursquare church in Gardiner. Mary is survived by her husband Richard L. Whitham of Gardiner, ME and her children, Brian L. Whitham and his wife Andrea of Bixby, OK, Timothy J. Whitham of Tulsa, OK, Richard W. Whitham and his wife Sandra of Tulsa, OK and Karen L. Kimbrough and her husband Tony of Northlake, TX as well as her Son-in-law, Cary Huseman of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth Peaslee, Sr. of Brunswick, ME and Harland Peaslee of Stanley, NC, 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predecdeased by her daughter, Brenda J. (Whitham) Huseman, her parents and several of her brothers and sisters.A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Staples Funeral Home in Gardiner. Viewing will be held at 3:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 pm.
