Gerine Bridges Obituary (1936 - 2015)

Gerine Beatrice Bridges 1936 - 2015 RANDOLPH - Gerine Beatrice Bridges, 79, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at MaineGeneral Long Term Care, Glenridge, with her daughter by her side, following a long illness. She was born in Augusta on May 15, 1936, the daughter of Leo and Roselia (Pare') Violette. She attended Augusta schools. Gerine married Sgt. James R. Bridges in 1954 and they raised a family together for many years in Chelsea. A hard working woman, Gerine worked in the shoe shops most of her life, R.P. Hazzard Co. and Hallowell Shoe Co., to name a few. Gerine loved her vegetable gardens and provided her family a labor of her love in every canned creation that she made. She loved playing Beano and going to the casino when she could. She also enjoyed going to the local church dinners. She loved her family dearly and especially adored her grandsons, Cody James Sleeper and Jesse James Hayes. She was known to them and to many others as 'Mimi.' Mimi had a heart of gold. She was predeceased by her father Leo Violette Sr. in 1954, mother Roselia Pare' Violette in 1996; son James R. Bridges, Jr. (Jimmy) in 1977; husband Sgt. James R. Bridges Sr. in 1990; and granddaughter Kaitlyn Roselia in 1999. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Bridges of Chelsea; grandsons Cody and Jesse of Chelsea; two brothers, Leo Violette and wife Rina of Winthrop, and Conrad Violette of Augusta, four sisters, Rita Violette and friend Linda Berdeen of Weeks Mills, Lorraine Dudley and husband Robert of Pittston, Jaqueline LaChance and husband Donald of Chelsea, Rachel DePlanche and husband Paul of Randolph; several nieces, nephews; and many friends. A memorial service will be held at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, on Saturday, May 30, at 3 p.m., followed by burial and committal prayers at Oak Grove Cemetary in Gardiner.
