Gardiner -- Etta M. Wallace, 91, of the Marston Road in Gardiner passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 26, 2010 at Maine General Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on February 23rd, 1919, the daughter of Burleigh and Mabel Morgan. She attended Randolph and Gardiner Schools. Etta was pre-deceased by her husband of 41 years, Robert P. Wallace, Sr. and a daughter, Kathrine Hyde of Litchfield, Me. She is survived by her two sisters, Francis Coggins and her husband Richard of Norway,Maine and Dorothy Martelle and her husband, Walter of Wellsville NY, her son, Robert P. Wallace Jr. of Gardiner, her daughters Elaine M. Commeau of Brewer and Jane F. Wallace of Auburn, a daughter-in-law, Tanya Wallace of Randolph and a son-in-law James Hyde of Litchfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren Johneen Gorneau and her husband Aurelle of West Gardiner, Kelley Chadbourne and her husband, Larry of South Gardiner, Patrick Wallace and his wife Paula of Augusta, Jill Wallace of Randolph, Erica Cole and her husband David of Portland, Angela Commeau of Bangor, Jimmy Hyde and his wife Oneica of Lewiston, Tina Mitchell and her husband Jeffrey of Chesterfield and 18 great grand children and 2 great, great grandchildren. She is also fondly remembered by two special people Linda Dionne of Randolph and Nancy Lawrence of Oakfield.Etta was a woman of strong faith in God which was reflected in the way she lived her life. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and a good friend. She will be most remembered for her kindness, compassion, wisdom, her positive outlook on life and especially for her incredible sense of humor which she maintained even at the end of her life. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Gardiner. Visiting hours will be at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave. in Gardiner, ME from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Thursday, Oct 28. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Gardiner at 11am on Friday Oct., 29, 2010.Burial will be Monday at 10am at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
