Erlene Rankins Obituary (1946 - 2018)

GARDINER - Erlene "Nana" Margaret (Jordan) Rankins, born on June 28, 1946 in Gardiner, Maine, to the late Virginia Irene Jordan and Erland Ripley Jordan, passed away at age 72 on August 27, 2018 at Maine General Health, Augusta, Maine. Erlene briefly attended UMA and Graduated from Gardiner Area High School. She was a Teacher's Aid with MSAD 11 until 1980, an Assistant Manager at Maine Department of Motor Vehicles until 1992, worked in the Student College Loans industry at Fannie Mae as an Accounts Payable Agent until 1996, and in the Cellular industry with Sprint as a Phone Technical Support Representative until 2001 and most recently a Foster Grandparent at the Helen Thompson Elementary School in West Gardiner for the last 11 years. Erlene is survived by her son, Benjamin Herbert Rankins and daughter, Valerie Ann Hill, their spouses Lisa and Brad respectively. Grandchildren: Meeghan, Kaci, Jordan, and Taylor. Great Grandchildren: Levi and Jace. She also leaves behind her greatly loved cat, Sassy. Erlene greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, fishing and crafting. She was an advisory board member for the Penquis Foster Grandparent Program. Friends and family are welcome to attend the Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 1st, 1:00 p.m. at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner.
