RANDOLPH - Ella Mae Hayden Shepard, 80, of 54 Central Street, died unexpectedly on October 11, 2010. She was born on January 25, 1930 in Easton, Maine to Beatrice (Tibbetts) and Charles Hayden. She graduated from Gardiner High School in 1947. Ella was the oldest in her family and helped care for her siblings after the death of her parents. She married Winston E. Shepard on June 24, 1950 and they had three children Lynn, Jeff and Steven. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and was considered the matriarch of the family. Anyone who needed it, had a home with Winnie and Ella. Throughout the years, there were many happy family gatherings held at their home. Ella worked at Central Maine Power after high school, as a secretary for Winter Street Baptist Church, as Town Clerk in Randolph and helped run Shepard's Garage for many years. Ella was a lifetime member of Winter Street Baptist Church. She was pre-deceased by her parents and parents in-law, Wallace and Lois Shepard; her infant daughter, Kimberly; brother Charles Hayden; sisters, Erma Jean Kendrick and June Runnells Smith; brothers in law Wallace Jr., G. Kenneth and Conrad. She is survived by her husband, Winston E. Shepard; her daughter Lynn and her husband Dana Mealey and their children Kristina, Adam and his son Christopher; her son Jeff, his wife Mary and their children Amanda, Tracey and her children Drew, Cameron and Brady; her son Steven and his wife Julie. She is also survived by her brother Paul Hayden and his wife, Joan; sister, Dorothy Perkins; sisters in law Janice Shepard, Lorraine Hopkins and her husband Ernie, Beverly Shaw, Sylvia Colfer and her husband Paul, Pam Turner and her husband Frank and several nieces and nephews. Visiting Hours will be Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave, Gardiner. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 15, 2010 at 1p.m. at Winter Street Baptist Church in Gardiner. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gardiner.
