Edmund "Buzzy" Reed Obituary (1933 - 2012)

Chelsea-Edmund (Buzzy) M. Reed, 78, of Chelsea passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday March 16, 2012. He was born in Augusta on Dec. 15, 1933 a son of Harold and Ethlyn Morrill Reed.He was a graduate of Gardiner High School. He was employed at the Maine Fish and Game Department stocking trout. He then went to work as a meat cutter for Sampson's, a meat manager throughout New England for First National, and a meat cutter for Fido's in Hallowell for 25 years. He retired and then went back to work for Boynton's Market in Hallowell.Buzzy was very proud of his pool playing. He was very hard to beat. He enjoyed gardening, always maintaining a garden. He was a fisherman, a dancer, enjoyed family gatherings and just loved people and people loved him. He was extremely young at heart. He loved following local high school basketball. He watched on television and would travel to the tournament games.He was a member of the Eagle's Club, the American Legion Post 4 Gardiner, a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Hallowell, and a member and served on its Vestry at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Hallowell.He was predecease by his parents, his first wife Margaret , his son Harold, two sisters Maxine and Lela and a brother Tom. He is survived by his wife Annette Reed of Chelsea, three children, Victoria Chapman and her husband Michael of Randolph, Peggy Merrill of Chelsea, Jody Reed of Hallowell, a sister Laura Stevens of Oakland, brother Robert reed of Fl and Tenn, 4 step children, Beatrice and her husband Rusty of Chelsea, Teddy of Windsor, Clifton of Gardiner, Jimmy and his wife Heidi of Pittston, six grandchildren Lindsay , Tina, Kim, Ruby and Bella, Erica, 2 great grandchildren Lexy and Samuel, several step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins who will truly miss Uncle BuzzyA memorial service will be held Thursday March 22nd at 11am at the St. Matthews Episcopal Church Hallowell.
