Farmingdale - Daniel Carl Canfield, 70, passed away at Gosnell Hospice House, Scarborough, \r\nSept 12, 2021, after a long illness.\r\n\r\nHe was born in Portland, Maine on June 21, 1951, the son of Robert and Helen Canfield. \r\n\r\nHe lived in the Gardiner-Chelsea area most of his life, graduating from Gardiner Area High School. He then attended Roberts Wesleyan College (NY) then SMVTI (Portland). After several construction jobs, he worked for BIW (Harding Plant) as a fabricator for 37 years.\r\n\r\nHe loved trains, traveling to train shows across the Northeast. He and his father built his own railroad around his backyard. He also loved taking his two nephews, Eric and Shawn, on fun trips, always making sure they stayed where there was a swimming pool.\r\n\r\nHe is predeceased by his mother, Helen.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his father, Bob Canfield; his sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and John Hutchinson; two nephews, Eric and Shawn Hutchinson; a great niece and nephew, Dahlia and Oliver Hutchinson; Aunts and cousins in WI and TX.\r\n\r\nA graveside service will be held on Thursday October 7th, at 2 PM, at the Wall Cemetery on Riverside Drive across from the Red Barn, in Augusta\r\n\r\nArrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
