1940 - 2020\r\nPITTSTON - Craig Samuel Mitchell, 79, of Pittston, Maine passed away at his home on September 3, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Craig was born to LeRoy and Elizabeth Mitchell on October 9, 1940 in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from Pierre S. Dupont High School and attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1962. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1964. \r\n\r\nIn August 1973, Craig married Georgina Adams Mitchell, who survives him. They have three daughters, a son and fifteen grandchildren. Daughter, Heather Wilson, husband Jeremiah and children Sawyer, Savannah and Sadie of Monterey, California; daughter, Haley Doak, husband Darius and children Avery, Mallory, Mitchell and Nathanael of Woolwich, Maine; daughter, Holly Burke, husband Kyle and children Alivia, Alison, Samuel, Acadia and Adaline of Mobile, Alabama; and son, Trevor Mitchell, wife Mindy and children Charlie, Will and Elyse of St. Louis, Missouri.\r\n\r\nCraig had a broad and technical career. He proudly served his country in Army Intelligence and the Aviation and Missile Defense Industry at Textron in Wilmington, MA on the development team for a sophisticated U.S. weapons system. He carried his passion for aviation and space exploration with him throughout his life. While at DuPont in Old Hickory, TN and Xerox in Rochester, NY, he held project manager positions in manufacturing and in the product engineering sectors. He went on to start his own company, School Geographics Inc in North Andover, MA which designed bus routes for school systems and aided in the desegregation of public schools. \r\n\r\nAfter retiring to Maine, Craig and Georgie enjoyed travelling to see their children and RVing. A member of Bible Baptist Church in Wiscasset, Maine, Craig taught adult Sunday School and served as a deacon. He will be remembered for loving the Lord, and as a loving husband, father, Papa and true Patriot.\r\n\r\nArrangements are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
